SciTube Associate Programme
Help great research reach the people who need to understand it
Most research doesn’t have a quality problem.
It has a visibility problem.
Every day, important work is published that never reaches beyond a small group of specialists. Not because it lacks value, but because it’s difficult to access without deep subject knowledge.
At SciTube, we focus on changing that. Turning complex research into clear, engaging content that can be understood by wider audiences.
And a big part of that happens through conversations.
Introductions. Recommendations. People connecting good work with the right support.
That’s why we’ve created the SciTube Associate Programme.
Why research communication matters more than ever
A significant proportion of research is publicly funded.
Which means, at its core, it’s meant to serve more than just a specialist audience.
But in reality, most research never reaches the people it could benefit most.
Not policymakers.
Not industry.
Not the public.
That’s not a criticism of the research itself. It’s a communication gap.
And increasingly, that gap matters.
Across funding bodies and institutions, there is a growing emphasis on:
• Outreach
• Public engagement
• Broader impacts
• Plain language communication
• Knowledge translation
These aren’t just buzzwords. They’re becoming expectations.
Researchers are being asked to show:
• how their work connects to real-world audiences
• how it can be understood beyond their field
• how it contributes to wider society
The challenge is, doing this well takes time, skill, and a completely different way of thinking about communication.
That’s where the right support can make a real difference.
Where SciTube fits in
SciTube exists to bridge that gap.
We help translate complex research into clear, engaging formats that make sense to non-specialist audiences, without losing accuracy or depth.
Whether it’s:
• supporting public engagement and outreach activity
• strengthening Broader Impacts and funding proposals
• improving plain language summaries and accessibility
• enabling effective knowledge translation across sectors
…the goal is the same.
To make sure good research is understood by the people it’s ultimately meant to serve.
Trusted by researchers and institutions worldwide
We’ve worked with individual researchers, universities, and organisations across a wide range of disciplines to communicate complex work clearly and effectively.
Our content has reached millions of viewers globally, supporting:
• research visibility
• stakeholder engagement
• funding applications
• and public understanding

How you might use it
Most Associates simply keep SciTube in mind when relevant conversations come up.
For example:
• A colleague looking to communicate a new project
• A research group planning a grant or impact activity
• A team wanting to explain their work more clearly to wider audiences
In those moments, a simple:
“It might be worth taking a look at SciTube”
…is often enough.
If they’re interested, you can share your code and info pack with them.
A simple way to support better research communication
This isn’t about selling.
It’s about making sure good research has the best possible chance of being understood, used, and built upon.
If that resonates with you, we’d love to have you involved.
What is a SciTube Associate?
A SciTube Associate is someone who believes research should be understood beyond specialist circles, and is in a position to connect people with the right tools to make that happen.
You might be:
• A researcher
• Part of a research communications team
• Working in research development or grants support
• Involved in outreach, impact, or public engagement
• Or simply well connected to active research environments
There’s no expectation to sell.
It’s simply about recognising when something is a good fit, and pointing people in the right direction
Why we’re doing this
A large proportion of our projects come from word of mouth.
Someone sees what we do, thinks of a colleague, and makes a connection.
We want to make that easier.
And we want to recognise the people who help make those connections happen.
What you get
As a SciTube Associate, you’ll receive:
• A recognised connection to SciTube
(something you can include on your CV, LinkedIn, or professional profile)
• A unique SciTube code to share with your network
• A simple way to support colleagues, collaborators, and research teams
(by connecting them with trusted, high-quality communication support when it’s genuinely useful)
• The ability to strengthen your role in outreach, public engagement, and knowledge translation
(useful for career development, impact case studies, and institutional value)
• A practical way to support grant applications and Broader Impacts activity
(helping researchers demonstrate clear plans for communicating their work beyond specialist audiences)
• Exposure to real-world research communication projects
(helpful if you’re interested in building experience in this space)
• A 10% discount on any SciTube service for those you introduce
(making it easier and more beneficial for colleagues and collaborators to move forward when it’s a good fit)
• 10% introduction fee on any project that comes through your referrals
(not as a sales incentive, but as recognition. Researchers and professionals already give a huge amount of time to peer review, mentoring, and supporting others without compensation. When a simple introduction leads to real work, it’s only fair that contribution is acknowledged.)
• Occasional updates on projects, ideas, and opportunities we’re working on
For many Associates, this becomes a natural extension of what they already do, helping others access the right support, while playing a small part in improving how research is communicated more broadly.
