Is a research video worth the investment?
Your video is a reusable, citable output for research profiles, presentations, teaching and outreach, not a one-off promotional clip. SciTube also publishes and disseminates it, creating more opportunities for your work to be discovered.
Could a video help my work get noticed or cited?
A professionally produced video makes your findings easier to discover, understand and share. Every SciTube publication links directly to the original research, helping potential readers explore your work and opening opportunities for greater recognition, citations and collaboration.
Will my video have a DOI I can cite?
Yes. Every SciTube video receives its own Crossref DOI, citation details and scholarly metadata, linked to the original research. You can reference it in CVs, profiles and reports where accepted. It is a separate communication output, not a peer-reviewed article.
Can my university or grant pay?
We accept institutional invoices and purchase orders. Outreach and dissemination may be eligible under some grants, but your funder and institution determine the rules. If you need supervisor or departmental approval, share the package details before ordering.
What if outreach wasn't in my original budget?
Your department may have another communication budget, or your funder may permit a justified change. Approval isn't automatic, so check before committing. We can provide itemised pricing and invoices for institutional purchasing.
Do I have to pay when I order?
No immediate card payment is needed when you choose an invoice. Our standard payment terms are 45 days. An order still creates a commitment under our terms, so please arrange any required approval first.
How much of my time will it take?
We handle scripting, design, production, publication and dissemination. You review the science at agreed stages, with colleagues involved where needed. Feedback can fit around your research commitments.
How long does production take?
Usually five working days for a script, five for a Classic/Plus storyboard and five to seven for production, excluding your reviews and revisions. Video Lite needs no bespoke animation storyboard. Let us know about any deadline.
Can SciTube communicate highly specialised research?
Absolutely. We work across medical, scientific, technical, social science and other disciplines. Whether you want to reach fellow specialists, clinicians, policymakers or the wider public, we tailor the narrative to your research and intended audience.
Do I need a published paper?
No. We can also work from suitable research projects, methods, reports and manuscripts, provided the content is ready and authorised for public communication. Where a source paper exists, the SciTube page links directly to it.
What do I need to provide?
Usually a paper or research summary and any useful figures. You can provide supporting material during the editorial process and identify any collaborator or institutional approvals required. We handle the rest.
How do you protect accuracy and handle revisions?
Our scientific editors work carefully with your research, preserving the detail, limitations and scientific nuance that matter. You approve the script, bespoke storyboards where applicable, and final video before publication. Your video is never published without your approval.
Which package should I choose?
Video Lite (Β£980) is ideal for introducing your research to wider audiences using existing visuals. Animation Classic (Β£2,300) brings your findings, methods and processes to life through bespoke 2D animation. Animation Plus (Β£4,800) adds 3D visualisation for research that benefits from showing complex structures or mechanisms in greater detail. All include publication and dissemination.
What if my university has a communications team?
That's fine. SciTube complements institutional communications with specialist scientific production and additional dissemination channels. Your university, lab or research group can also use the finished video in its own outreach.
Where will my video be shared?
On a dedicated SciTube publication page with a Crossref DOI, metadata and links to your original work. We also feature animations in themed Special Editions and actively share them on relevant public platforms, including YouTube, TikTok and LinkedIn.
Can I reuse my video and report its reach?
Yes. Reuse it in presentations, teaching, websites and research profiles, subject to third-party asset licences. We supply available viewing and engagement figures for your outreach reports; individual results vary.
