About SciTube

Making Research Understandable

Research changes lives.

It drives medical breakthroughs, technological innovation, environmental solutions, public policy, and scientific discovery.

Yet much of the world’s research remains difficult for anyone outside a specialist field to understand.

That’s not because researchers are poor communicators. Academic papers are written for precision, rigour, and scientific scrutiny. They are designed to communicate with fellow experts.

The challenge is that many of the people who could benefit from research, including policymakers, practitioners, patients, educators, industry, journalists, and even researchers from other disciplines, often struggle to engage with highly technical research outputs.

That’s where SciTube comes in.

We help researchers transform complex research into clear, engaging scientific animations that increase visibility, understanding, and impact.

Since launching, SciTube has supported more than 2,500 research communication projects and helped generate more than 80 million views and engagements across the Science Diffusion network.

Why We Exist

More research is accessible than ever before.

Yet accessibility and understanding are not the same thing.

A paper can be freely available online and still remain inaccessible to many people because of its complexity, specialist language, or technical context.

At SciTube, we believe publishing research is only part of the journey.

For research to create real-world impact, people first need to understand it.

Our mission is simple:

Making Science Understandable Without Losing The Science

Everything we do is built around that idea.

How Research Creates Impact

Access → Understanding → Impact

Publication provides access.

Communication creates understanding.

Understanding creates impact.

Research can only influence decisions, inspire change, improve practice, attract collaborators, support funding, or benefit society when people are able to understand it.

SciTube helps researchers move from access to impact.

What We Do

SciTube is a specialist science communication platform that helps researchers communicate their work through short video summaries and animations.

We manage the entire process, including:

• Scientific scriptwriting

• Storyboarding

• Animation production

• Voiceover and narration

• Publication support

• Dissemination and outreach

Whether the goal is public engagement, research visibility, teaching, outreach, knowledge exchange, policy engagement, patient communication, or impact generation, we help researchers communicate their work clearly and effectively.

Why Animation?

Research communication comes in many forms.

Articles, podcasts, social media, infographics, presentations, and videos all play an important role.

After supporting thousands of research communication projects, we believe animation offers a unique combination of advantages.

Animation can:

  • Simplify complex concepts
  • Increase understanding
  • Improve accessibility
  • Engage wider audiences
  • Support teaching and learning
  • Perform strongly across digital channels
  • Be reused throughout the research lifecycle

Unlike generic video content, animation allows complex concepts, processes, mechanisms, and ideas to be visualised in ways that would otherwise be difficult, expensive, or impossible to capture.

Just as importantly, every SciTube project is built from scratch around the research itself.

We don’t use templates, generic scripts, or one-size-fits-all visuals.

Each animation is custom-written, custom-designed, and tailored specifically to the research being communicated, ensuring the final output accurately reflects the science, objectives, and audiences of the project.

This allows researchers to communicate highly specialised topics in ways that remain scientifically accurate whilst being engaging and accessible to wider audiences.

Our Approach

There are many ways researchers can communicate their work.

Some platforms provide tools and distribution channels, but rely on researchers to create the content themselves. Others focus primarily on hosting, aggregation, or promotion.

At SciTube, we’ve taken a different approach.

We believe researchers should spend their time researching.

That’s why we manage the communication process on their behalf.

From scientific scriptwriting and storyboarding through to animation, publication, and dissemination, our team does the heavy lifting while researchers remain focused on ensuring scientific accuracy.

We’re also committed to transparency.

Researchers know exactly what they are paying for, what is included, and who is doing the work.

There are no hidden publication charges, platform fees, audience-access models, or complex pricing structures.

Simply a specialist team helping researchers communicate complex research more clearly and effectively.

For us, science communication should create value for researchers, not additional workload.

Why Researchers Choose SciTube

Researchers today have more communication tools available than ever before.

So why do they choose SciTube?

Save Time

Researchers are already balancing research, publishing, grants, teaching, supervision, and administration.

Creating effective communication materials takes time.

SciTube manages the entire process, from research review and scriptwriting through to animation, publication, and dissemination, allowing researchers to stay focused on their research.

Communicate Clearly

Understanding research and communicating research are not the same thing.

Academic papers are written for specialists, whilst many communication activities require content to be accessible to broader audiences.

Our team combines scientific understanding with storytelling, visual communication, and audience engagement expertise to help researchers communicate complex ideas clearly without losing scientific accuracy.

Reach Wider Audiences

Creating content is only half the challenge.

The next question is who will actually see it.

SciTube provides a complete communication service, including research understanding, scriptwriting, illustration, animation, publication, and dissemination.

Researchers can publish through their own channels, SciTube channels, or a combination of both, helping research reach established audiences across multiple platforms.

A Complete Service

From understanding the research itself through to helping audiences understand it, SciTube manages the entire communication journey.

Researchers focus on the science.

We handle the communication.

A Note From Our Founder

Science Diffusion was founded in 2015 and SciTube was later launched with a simple goal: to help researchers make complex research understandable.

Over the years, we’ve worked with thousands of researchers and learned something important.

The challenge facing research today isn’t simply access.

Increasingly, it’s understanding.

Research can only create impact when people engage with it, learn from it, and apply it.

I’m passionate about helping researchers increase the visibility, understanding, and impact of their work, and I’ve never been afraid to challenge traditional approaches when I believe there’s a better way to achieve that goal.

That belief has shaped everything we’ve built at SciTube.

Today, we’re fortunate to work with researchers, universities, publishers, charities, healthcare organisations, and research funders around the world who share that same ambition.

I believe one of the biggest challenges facing research today is no longer access to information, but understanding it.

Research deserves to be read.

Research deserves to be understood.

That’s what we’ve been working towards since 2015.

Looking Ahead

Research communication continues to evolve.

Open Access has transformed access to knowledge.

Artificial intelligence is changing how information is created and consumed.

Audiences increasingly expect information to be visual, engaging, and easy to understand.

Yet despite these changes, one thing remains constant.

Research only creates value when people understand it.

That belief has guided Science Diffusion since 2015 and continues to shape everything we do at SciTube today.

We’re excited to continue helping researchers make their work more visible, more understandable, and ultimately more impactful.
