Gili Hammer | Inside Jaffa’s Multisensory Cultural Centre
About this episode
Step through the doors of a cultural centre in Jaffa, Israel, and you enter a world built for every kind of body. The Center is a unique nonprofit cultural and arts center that serves as a meeting place where Deaf, blind, and deafblind people and the general public come together through shared cultural and artistic experiences. There is a coffee shop where deaf staff serve drinks ordered in sign language. There is a restaurant where meals are eaten in total darkness, guided by blind waiters. And there is a theatre where deaf, blind, deafblind, hearing, and seeing performers share the same stage.
